saturday mornings

... have become a little bit more exciting around here since christmas.
we got a waffle maker!
that might not sound so exciting to you, but it really is a whole lot of fun.
first off, webb loves some waffle!
he was a big fan of the frozen kind, but the only frozen kind i was buying him were a bit costly.
no eggos for this boo!

so the waffle maker has been a huge hit cause webb gets to help me make him some non-processed waffles. yipee!
plus the batter stays good for up to a week.

so here's how we do it:
step ladder .. check
milk, flour, eggs ... check check check
waffle maker ... check
let's get to mixin'!

i've tried a couple of recipes and so far this one is the best.
of course i've tweaked it a bit.

2 eggs
2 cups white whole wheat flour
1 3/4 cup whole milk (b/c that's all we have around here these days)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 T. turbinado sugar
4 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt
1/2 t. vanilla
optional: 1/2 cup (or more) banana puree or sweet potato puree

beat eggs with mixer until fluffy.
beat in remaining ingredients until smooth.

then spray the waffle iron and wait for it to heat up
... patiently, if possible.

then pour the mix in and wait.
once again, patiently, if possible.

and then it's time to dig in!
"mmm ... soft and a little sweet, cooked to perfection!"
