the party!

well this has taken me forever to post!
a couple of times i spent an hour working on this post only for it to not save.
totally frustrated and feeling like i'd wasted too much time i had to step away from blogging for a few days!

so here we go!
webb's birthday party pics.

the theme was the cat in the hat.
webb fell in love with the cat in the hat thanks to the fact that we don't have cable.
so thankful for pbs kids.
only educational cartoons for this kiddo!

we watch the cat in the hat almost every morning around here.
"go go go" was one of the first phrases boo ever said.
it was hysterical and really cute.

the invitation:
designed by my friend emelie at town square designs.
to see a better image of this adorable invite, go here.
(she also designed the sweet lou's logo)

party time!
webb's party was at smart sprouts.
it's a new drop-off daycare in green hills.
it's fabulous!
ann, the owner, rents out the space for birthday parties on saturdays.
it was just the place i had been searching for when i knew i wanted to have an indoor party.
(i was afraid the cicadas were still going to be around! ... as webb would say "shoo")

the party favors were cat in the hat paper hats and stickers.

on the menu:
chips and salsa
goldfish (you can't have a party these days without 'em!)
watermelon and blueberries
hallelujah ham rolls
white chocolate covered strawberries
(but the chocolate was blue!)
red velvet cupcakes

my sweet helper lizzie.
couldn't have done it without you!!
(eventhough you dropped the box of cupcakes!)

the proud parents

this was how we got the hint that webb wanted a guitar for his birthday.
he carried this thing around about 90% of the time at the party.

of course the train table was a hit!
webb with luke, arthur and brennan

webb loves william!
i think william loves webb because webb laughs at everything william says :)

daddy and webb

what the family does at a 2 year old birthday party!

happy birthday to you!!

if i could change one thing, i wish i would have videoed this!
i didn't expect that it was going to be such a special moment.
webb's face lit up when everyone sang happy birthday and then he blew out the candle.
i had NO clue he could do that!
everyone cheered and he smiled so big.
he was SO proud and we were SO proud of him too!

yummy!

i love it when my mom let's me eat sweets :)

a little one on one storytime in the corner with mama ...

ann wilson is one of webb's few girlfriends and he adores her!
he loves to hold her hand and the funniest part is that sometimes she's just not in the mood.
it's really cute.

going in for a hug ...

i found him by the table sneaking a tortilla chip.
his favorite, but not mine.
those sharp edges make me so nervous!

george, webb, max and parker

playgroup friends ... luke, ethan and mary mae

webb and tom kennon playing follow the leader.
webb's always the follower.

having too much fun in the water fountain!

another one of me and boo

here comes the birthday boy!

hugs from george!
webb's sweet friend from school.

wearing the party hat

opening a gift from unkie and al.
webb is obsessed with his CAT rumbler!

i was wrong ... if i could do it all over i again i would do two things differently.
1 - video singing happy birthday
and
2 - get a picture of webb with my dad
i don't know what i was thinking.
i was sad when i realized i forgot to take one.
i guess i could use pregnancy brain as an excuse,
but at the end of the first trimester is that even a valid excuse at this point?

webb's party was just perfect!
it was a wonderful celebration of how far we have come in 2 years, a celebration of good health, and new friendships.
we feel SO extremely blessed!

  1. looks like fun!

tortilla chips make John nervous too, but I stick to my only parenting strategy...whatever doesn't kill em, makes em stronger. (and I can flip over Burl really fast when something gets caught)
