this week i'm not doing a project, instead i'm trying to put a few things in place. as you know last weeks goal was to reread skinny bitch. well, i sort of skimmed it. it was a great reminder about the food industry and how gross and toxic a lot of things we put in our body are, and it makes me wonder how i'm still alive!
i read about aspartame and how the fda didn't approve it for years and the scandal behind how it was approved, how sugar in it's natural form actually has health benefits but we've stripped them all away in the refinery process, how coffee is imported from countries that grow the beans with chemical pesticides that are banned in the u.s., and so on and so on and so on. the authors of this book really do a great job at making you feel like water is the only answer. well, not really, but you get my point.
since this is where i'm at, i figured i might as well blog about in hopes that it will keep me accountable. i've decided to count calories again and take what the skinny bitches say, lightly, and make some changes. i really do want to feel healthier and fit into those pair of jeans i was telling you about earlier.
so this week, i'm getting off the coffee, no more diet cokes, which i haven't really been drinking much of anyway, less sugar, more fruits and veggies ... i've kinda become a carboholic lately. just better choices in general.
lance armstrong's livestrong website has a link to the daily plate that is a great way to count calories. it's the best one i've found and so easy and quick to calculate. it also allows you to set a daily caloric goal for each day.
we'll see what happens! if you see me with a cup of coffee ... try not to judge.
