the cleanse definitely didn't start on a high note this morning.
but at least i know my gag reflux works! ... just the truth :)
our liquid meal for this a.m. was becky's morning shake.
i think becky needs to get back in the kitchen.
after you read the ingredients you're gonna wonder why i would even opt to make this.
i was being VERY optimistic!
here's the ingredients:
8 ounces of water
3 oz. rice milk (unsweetened)
1/2 of an avocado
2 teaspoons organic almond butter
a pinch of sea salt
1 scoop flax meal
optional: sweetener to taste (stevia, agave, brown rice syrup) - YES, please!!
blend all ingredients until smooth.
hopefully tomorrow's berry shake will be a bit more tasty.
1 cup rice milk (unsweetened)
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
3 pitted dates
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon flax meal
blend all ingredients until smooth.
lunch was actually satisfying ... praise the lord!
i had lentils (which i've always tried to avoid), green beans, and broccoli.
and a side of mixed greens with a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vingear.
and for dinner we'll be having pesto baked salmon with brown rice and a side of mixed greens.
place the salmon fillets skin side down on to a piece of foil on a baking tray.
spoon over 2 tbsp of pesto (recipe below) onto each salmon fillet and close over the foil to make a “container”.
Roast in the oven for 30- 45 minutes.
for the pesto:
2 cups fresh basil
1 cup cashews
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup nutritional yeast (not sure about this stuff)
2 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil, to drizzle in slowly as it’s processing
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 cup water (to thin, add slowly only as needed)
blend all ingredients in a high speed blender or food processor.
add the olive oil and water just enough to thin to desired consistency.
(store in an airtight container in the fridge and note that it will thicken as it sits)

the first part of the morning i feel like i've kinda drug along.
no coffee and we were kinda stuck in the house due to icy roads.
i was thinking about taking a little snooze after lunch, but my energy picked up right after i ate.
food = fuel ... it's the way we should always look at food.
